It was an exciting day in the Westerman lab, as our first F1 butterfly emerged from their chrysalis this morning, and Bicyclus anynana, our latest and last (at least for the foreseeable future!) species addition to the butterfly facility, arrived this morning!

Dr. Westerman recently received a collaborative grant to work with Dr. Neelendra Joshi and graduate student Stephen Robertson in the Entomology Department on nocturnal pollinators! We look forward to building a strong collaborative relationship with the UARK entomology department.
Thermocyclers, shakers, pipettes, and a microcentrifuge arrived this week: DNA extractions here we come!
